Beacon Hospital in South Dublin is one of Europe’s most technologically advanced private hospitals, with over 1,300 medical professionals. Its 300-space underground car park serves patients and visitors who are often anxious, tired or stressed — so parking needed to be one less thing to worry about. Working with parking operator Blue Wall Technologies, the hospital required agility of movement throughout the facility and complete surveillance of every bay.
Quercus Technologies installed 135 SC Indoor camera-based parking sensors providing license plate recognition, vehicle detection and video surveillance at every parking space. The sensors locate available spaces and feed the BirdWatch parking management software in real time, while digital parking signs guide drivers to open spaces on each aisle. At the car kiosk, visitors can locate their vehicle simply by entering their plate number.
The system makes it easy to identify disabled spaces and bays close to doors and elevators — a vital function in premises welcoming many elderly, disabled and unwell people every day. All collected data is organized by BirdWatch into reports that support real-time decision making and an extremely high level of security and control. The result is a parking experience that alleviates stress rather than adding to it, with every functionality delivered at an extremely high detection rate and accuracy.
