Congonhas Airport

Congonhas Airport in São Paulo is the second busiest airport in Brazil. When its 1,233-space parking garage was privatized — with ESTAPAR winning a 20-year operating concession — the facility needed a fast, efficient system able to locate and manage available spaces in real time, with license plate recognition not only at entries and exits but at each individual parking space, to prevent theft and fraud.

Quercus Technologies deployed its global parking solution: 210 SC Indoor ID sensors covering 4 spaces and 260 covering 2 spaces, all with embedded license plate recognition and motion-triggered video recording; 8 SmartLPR Access all-in-one LPR units at the garage entries and exits; and LED displays at decision points throughout the facility. The customized LED guidance lights identify free, reserved and special spaces, letting drivers locate the space type they need in minimal time.

BirdWatch, the parking management software, turns this data into orderly, precise operational intelligence: when a vehicle arrived, how long it stayed, and every event that happened in or around its space. Reports can be filtered and displayed as heat maps, bar graphics or frequency statistics, giving the operator a global view of user behavior — useful for everything from daily operations to targeted marketing campaigns.
