Miraflores Shopping Mall upgraded its 2,500-space garage with per-space guidance lights, LPR-based access and video surveillance of every space — cutting search times and building customer loyalty.
Miraflores is one of Guatemala’s most complete shopping malls, with a three-level parking garage of 2,500 spaces managed by Global Genius, Quercus’ partner in the country. The operator wanted two things: individual indication of space availability so parking never becomes a headache, and detailed video-based monitoring of each space — more effective for identifying individuals after an incident than generalized CCTV in the aisleways.
Quercus Technologies installed 1,220 SC Indoor camera-based parking sensors and 2,500 RGB availability indicator lights — one per space — that change color as the sensors detect occupancy. Twenty kiosks with the Find Your Car function let shoppers locate their vehicle by simply typing their plate number, and SmartLPR Access cameras in the entrance and exit lanes remove the waiting lines at both ends of the visit. Everything is centralized in the BirdWatch parking management platform.
Beyond the day-to-day experience, the centralized data enables continuous improvement: reports on traffic and occupancy times, vehicle flow and rotation, heat maps and movement between points of interest help the operator optimize circulation and expedite decisions — efficient management that maximizes the return on the garage’s technology investment, while customers enjoy an automated, user-friendly and secure parking process.
