Home2 Suites by Hilton, one of the fastest-growing brands in the history of Hilton, is a modern, all-suite, award-winning extended-stay hotel concept designed to offer stylish accommodations with flexible guest room configurations and inspired amenities while keeping a commitment to environmentally friendly products and hotel operations. 

Home2 Suites Montreal Dorval was built in 2018, including 2 floors of underground parking with 51 parking bays in total. The Hotel is conveniently located on Highway 40 in Montreal's West Island, 15 minutes from Montreal-Trudeau International Airport, close to Fairview Pointe-Claire shopping center and to many corporations. 

Why they purchased?

Ownership needed a clever system that would lead guests to the empty spaces as the space is limited for u-turn with vehicles in the underground parking. Availability of the parking bays inside was to be displayed outside in order to spare the clients looking for an in-existent free bay and park instead directly on the outside parking area. Counts are Displayed on exterior signage.

Parking Guidance System

Quercus’ parking guidance solution was designed specially for Home2Suites in order to answer to the client’s needs, focusing on guiding the clients to available spaces, preferably in the first floor of the parking lot in order to avoid time loses and difficult maneuvers. 

SC Indoor camera-based parking sensors

First, it was decided to install 20 SC Indoor parking sensors in order to facilitate the parking process: its customized LED lights in different colors identify free from occupied spaces, as well as special spaces (VIP, disabled…). SC Indoor is the base of top camera-based parking guidance systems. They are All-in-One units with built-in LPR that perform vehicle detection and license plate recognition inside the unit, a fact that guarantees the robustness of the solution. The units chosen are the most advanced version of the product, SC Indoor ID. They provide information about the available and occupied parking spaces and record video, whenever triggered by movement, registering any event happening in or near the bay. This system guarantees that everyone and all property are perfectly safe. Every space in the car park is monitored automatically, allowing critical information to be available to security. 

Digital Parking Signs - LED Displays

The SC Indoor parking sensor will help users move around the parking, but in order to make sure that customers do not have to drive to the underground level of the parking to find that there are no free spaces there, 3 parking LED Displays were used, two outside and one inside. Using both SC Indoor parking sensors and displays helps clients find a free space, of the kind they need, saving clients  the struggle. This way, clients know at any time where they will find the space they are needing, if they have to drive to the underground floor or if there is one last space just waiting for them somewhere nearer. The system knows at all times where every vehicle is parked. Avoiding queues, losses of time and all the stress and anger associated with parking in bad conditions.

BirdWatch parking management software

BirdWatch parking management software is the cherry on top of the cake. BirdWatch provides Big Data in a clear, orderly and accurate way in order to make informed decisions. The system identifies quickly if a vehicle arrives, how long each vehicle has been parked and any event happening in or around the bay. BirdWatch organizes all collected information in reports that can be filtered using different parameters (time, access, parking…) in order to read only desired info. The reports can be presented in various formats: heat-maps, bar charts, frequency statistics, etc. The reports facilitate an efficient management of the parking, offering a global vision of the patterns of use.
