High reliability of the SmartLPR.ai camera, now a reality in ticketless systems
Leaders in license plate recognition
It’s been six months since the product launch, and we’ve already achieved tangible results on a number of continents, in diverse conditions and installation configurations. With reliability rates this high, ticketless and barrierless solutions are now a reality. SmartLPR cameras can guarantee effective, accurate access control, doing away with the need for physical tickets and providing a more fluid, convenient experience for users.
As opposed to other studies, this percentage has been calculated following a method that does not discard any image capture. We have included deteriorated images, some with illegible or partially visible characters, license plates that were non-regulatory or in poor condition, and others with characters that had been modified by external factors. This ensures a thorough evaluation of our SmartLPR units, showing their robustness and reliability in adverse conditions.
The performance analysis of our license plate recognition cameras is a vital process to guarantee that our products meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy. Thanks to this assessment, we have identified areas for improvement, optimized the operation of our devices and guaranteed reliable results in a vast array of settings and conditions.
Quercus installations cover a broad range of recognizable countries. Our cameras can simultaneously read license plates from an unlimited number of countries/states, doing away with the need to pre-configure the license plates to be detected.
Successful installations
Let’s take a closer look at the projects that have boosted our capacity to adapt to different environments and demands. These results underscore the versatility and performance of our technological solutions in different scenarios, with one camera per lane.
- Larcomar Shopping Center in Peru
What makes this project unique is its seafront location. The SmartLPR cameras are installed in an indoor parking garage that has been equipped with four units (two at the entrances and two at the exits). According to the latest analyses, we have achieved a correct detection rate of nearly 99.8%. An interesting detail of this project; the parking garage already had an LPR system made by another manufacturer. When they replaced it with ours, the customer noticed a significant improvement in performance.
- Slovenia Airport
License plates from 11 different countries were recognized in the study conducted at the Slovenia Airport. Thanks to the technology driving version 6 of the SmartLPR, we’ve reached a reliability rate of 99.8% in this project, showing the robustness of our solution in highly demanding multicountry settings.
- Nice Airport
The SmartLPR camera system installed at Nice Airport’s outdoor parking lot has proven itself to be of exceptional reliability. Operating in free-flow mode, it has been able to recognize the license plates of vehicles from the United Kingdom, Monaco, Italy, Austria and Rumania, covering nearly all of Europe.
With a success rate of 98.25%, this parking facility’s SmartLPR cameras have proven their capability to operate with high accuracy, even outdoors, where weather conditions and the diversity of license plates could be a real challenge. This reliability is key in a high-traffic airport such as Nice, where efficiency and the continuous flow of vehicles are essential for fluid operations. Even though the recognition rate is already high, we are still working to achieve a minimum recognition rate of 99%.
- Sky Harbor International Airport of Phoenix
SmartLPR cameras have been installed in the Phoenix Airport parking facility, achieving an impressive 98.4% accuracy recognizing license plates from various states. Notably, this installation proves that the system is reliable even in the extremely hot weather typical of Phoenix, where high temperatures could be a challenge for the technology. Even in these conditions, the SmartLPR cameras kept working optimally.
This installation speaks to the flexibility and adaptability of our solutions, showing that, as they do in multicountry environments, LPR cameras can manage the diversity of license plates with exceptional accuracy.
Commitment to excellence
At Quercus, we are committed to achieving a 99% recognition rate in installations with European and Latin American license plates, and 98% reliability in color license plates. If we do not reach that percentage, our development team, together with our Customer Service staff, will work proactively to adjust and improve each customer’s system, always ensuring compliance with our quality standards.
We will continue to evolve our systems, increasing our commitment to reliability, and working to constantly surpass our customers’ expectations, with a view to improving our results even further, and make freeflow ticketless solutions a reality now.
